Whitneys twin cousins, Giavanna and Jetta, are in town…so its time to test out their gymnastics skills in the Twin Gymnastics Challenge! In this challenge, Whitney does a gymnastics skill, then each twin tries their best to complete the skill. The contest was pretty close! The only way to determine a winner will be to look at all the comments and see who everybody thinks did the best. Giavanna, or Gia for short, was wearing the green shirt with shorts, while Jetta had on the black tank top and gray leggings.\r

Monozygotic (identical) twins\r
Monozygotic (MZ) or identical twins occur when a single egg is fertilized to form one zygote (hence, monozygotic) which then divides into two separate embryos.\r
Mechanism\r
Regarding spontaneous or natural monozygotic twinning, a recent theory proposes that monozygotic twins are formed after a blastocyst essentially collapses, splitting the progenitor cells (those that contain the bodys fundamental genetic material) in half, leaving the same genetic material divided in two on opposite sides of the embryo. Eventually, two separate fetuses develop. Spontaneous division of the zygote into two embryos is not considered to be a hereditary trait, but rather a spontaneous and random event. \r

Monozygotic twinning occurs in birthing at a rate of about 3 in every 1000 deliveries worldwide.[21] (0.2% of the world population, about 10 million identical twins in the world). \r
